Wildlife Security and Coexistence
744 Rangers, Professional Academy Training & Community Coexistence
Deploying 744 community rangers across 42 conservancies, training 326 rangers through AET support, mobilizing 61 Community Change Agents, and reaching 642 pastoralists through dedicated Human-Wildlife Coexistence campaigns.
Conservation & Community Bottlenecks
Living alongside free-roaming wildlife brings acute challenges: elephants raid subsistence crops during harvest seasons, while apex predators (lions, hyenas, leopards) attack livestock bomas at night. Without immediate mitigation, retaliatory carnivore killings and community hostility threaten conservation gains across the unfenced landscape.
What We Aim to Achieve
- ✓ Equip, coordinate, and train 744 community wildlife rangers across all 42 conservancies.
- ✓ Maintain the Amboseli Conservation Academy for professional paramilitary ranger drills and first aid.
- ✓ Eliminate human-carnivore conflict by fortifying vulnerable homesteads with predator-proof bomas and lights.
- ✓ Deploy rapid-response teams to mitigate elephant crop-raiding and assist in seasonal bushfire suppression.
